The Beauty of Our Wellness Benefit Luncheon Committee is proud to announce The Second Annual Beauty of Our Wellness Benefit Luncheon for Uterine Fibroids awareness.
The Annual Beauty of Our Wellness Benefit Luncheon serves as the largest fundraising event for the The Beauty of Our Wellness Fund. Our $500-micro grants offers financial assistance to applicants a part of group that are disproportionately diagnosed with uterine fibroids.
The State of Our Wellness Address will serve as the focus point of this annual event and will be delivered by the keynote speaker. The keynote speaker is a practicing OBGYN or medical researcher who will present an overview of the condition of African Diasporic Women’s Health, updates on U.S. Policy & Legislation related to Reproductive Health, and aims for Uterine Fibroid Awareness.
The Power of Collective Work Address will be delivered by co-founders Yasmine Griffiths & Khaleelah I. L. Harris. In this address, the speakers will reflect on the first year of work, collaboration, and their vision for the next year.
Our event Chef is Dionne McDonald. This event will feature live entertainment, raffle prizes, and goodie bags for each attendee!

The State of Our Wellness Address will serve as the focus point of this annual event and will be delivered by the keynote speaker. With over 20 years of experience delivering compassionate care that touches every stage of life. A proud native of Washington, DC, her roots run deep in the community she serves, driving her passion for improving healthcare access and outcomes in the metro area. Her illustrious career began at Wellesley College, where she completed her undergraduate studies, before earning her medical degree at the University of Virginia and completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. With board certification from The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Lightfoote’s expertise and dedication have solidified her as a trusted authority in the field.

Ashlei Peoples

Ashlei Peoples is a pianist, keyboardist, arranger and songwriter from northern Virginia, known for her expressive playing, musical versatility, and impactful presence across both academic and performance stages with over twenty years of experience.
Ashlei received a $15,000 scholarship to attend Spelman College, where she served as the accompanist for both the Spelman College Glee Club and Jazz Ensemble. While earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music-Piano Performance, cum laude, she also served as the Student Director of the Jazz Ensemble, accompanied vocal students in recitals and competitions, and performed as pianist for The Atlanta University Center Orchestra.
Ashlei has opened with her band for legendary artists such as Jean Carne, Michael Henderson, and The Dramatics. She was also selected as a participant in the prestigious All-Female Jazz Residency directed by jazz icon Geri Allen, and performed at the Kenyatta Jazz Festival at Spelman College. As a church musician, she played for the Children’s Choir pianist at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site.
Currently based in Washington, D.C., Ashlei is a highly sought-after freelance musician, performing for events, churches, and concerts throughout the DMV area and has served as the MD and pianist for Melisa Morgan, Nikea Marie, and more!

Dionne McDonald is the founde and lead chef of Doula’s Kitchen. Doula’s Kitchen, founded in November 2022, allowed for this dedicated maternal health advocate and doula with a decade of experience in supporting the birth of nearly 400 babies and families to take action on her mission. Her work extends beyond just meal preparation and planning – it encompasses housing, mental health, and wellness care for families.
McDonald will be preparing a diverse array of meals through a Fiborids Awareness Menu that brings together delicious non-inflamatory or endocrine disruptive ingredients.
